A highlight of the recent Art Pray Love “Meet the Artists Dinner”, was the unveiling of the Guatemala Murals created by local artist Jessica Jones. The three murals depict scenes from past mission trips which tell a story of the relationships formed between the men, women and children of Guatemala and the mission members who travel to provide medical services.
After the unveiling, Jessica shared how she wanted her artwork to show joy, hope and faith in the faces of both the people of Guatemala and the members of the medical mission. Coincidentally, several of the mission team who were present at the unveiling and others who attended Art Pray Love found themselves as subjects in the murals. They were able to give first hand accounts of what was depicted in the murals and how these experiences led to lasting friendships between the medical team and the families they served.
The murals were commissioned as a way of sharing the continuing story of the St. Peter’s sponsored medical mission to Guatemala. They will be on permanent display in the Parish Hall along with other memorabilia and information for visitors to enjoy. Thank you to the donors who made this project possible.
